FIRE & RESCUE VEHICLES

Airport Rescue Fire Fighting – FRIGATE Series

High-capacity airport firefighting built for rapid airfield response.

The FRIGATE Series combines commercial 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8 platforms with high-output pumping, foam systems, roof monitors and pump-and-roll operation.

  • 4×4 • 6×6 • 8×8
  • Up to 6,000 LPM
  • Airport Fire & Rescue

The Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) FRIGATE Series provides airport fire and rescue capability on commercial chassis platforms. MERAJ configures the series for rapid response, firefighting while moving, water and foam application, dry chemical powder systems, and airport emergency operations.

FRIGATE vehicles use 4×4 or 6×6 chassis configurations with water and foam capacity selected according to operational requirements. The series supports commercial chassis from manufacturers including MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and IVECO. A roof turret, bumper turret, automatic foam proportioning system, under-truck protection nozzles, and in-cab controls allow crews to begin suppression quickly after reaching an incident.

The broader FRIGATE range can carry up to 11,000 liters of extinguishing agent, including water and foam, with dry powder or CO₂ configurations available for selected applications.

The FRIGATE6 6×6 configuration increases extinguishing-agent capacity for larger airport operations. Tank configurations range from 6,000 to 10,000 liters, depending on the selected build. The detailed FRIGATE6 specification uses a 6×6 chassis, automatic transmission, a minimum 540 hp engine, and a top speed of up to 110 km/h. A documented FRIGATE6 configuration includes a 9,000-liter polypropylene water tank, 1,080-liter polypropylene foam tank, and a 6,000 LPM pump at 10 bar.

FRIGATE ARFF Technical Highlights

ALX-AP Aluminum Body
The FRIGATE6 uses an extruded aluminum apparatus body manufactured from 6061-T6 and 6063-T6 aluminum alloys. The nut-and-bolted construction reduces corrosion exposure and integrates lighting, wiring channels, roll-up doors, and equipment storage features.
6,000 LPM Fire Pump
The documented FRIGATE6 uses a MERAJ GORNER FP-6000 single-stage centrifugal normal-pressure pump rated at 6,000 LPM at 10 bar.
Water & Foam Storage
The documented FRIGATE6 configuration carries 9,000 L of water and 1,080 L of foam in polypropylene tanks. Series tank capacities vary by chassis and configuration.
Automatic Foam Proportioning
The FOMMIX automatic foam proportioning system supports 1%, 3%, and 6% foam mixing ratios.
Roof & Bumper Turrets
A CAN-controlled roof turret delivers up to 5,000 LPM, while the bumper turret delivers up to 3,000 LPM. Operators control the roof turret through a one-hand joystick.
Dry Chemical Powder System
The documented configuration includes a 250 kg DCP system with a 25 L nitrogen cylinder, discharge rate of 2.5 kg/s, and throw distance of approximately 8 m.
Pump-and-Roll Firefighting
The FRIGATE Series supports firefighting while the vehicle is moving, allowing crews to use roof or bumper turrets during approach and positioning.
Self-Protection System
Under-truck nozzles protect the wheels and front section of the vehicle during operations near fire and high radiant heat.
ME+ Driver Controls
Firefighting functions can be operated from the driver cab using the MERAJ ME+ control system, reducing the need for operators to leave the cab during initial attack.
Airport Mobility
The FRIGATE platform provides a 30° approach and departure angle and a 28° tilt angle in the documented configuration.
Low-Visibility Support
Available equipment includes FLIR night/smoke-assist driving and an optional pneumatic light mast for low-visibility operations.
Quick Attack Hose Reel
A rear-mounted high-pressure hose reel uses a 25 mm × 30 m hose with manual rewind. Electric or hydraulic rewind is available as an option.
Regulatory Compliance
The detailed FRIGATE brochure states full ICAO compliance and partial NFPA 414 compliance for the documented ARFF configuration.
